GSIS unveils new G-WAPS in DavOr
CITY OF MATI, Davao Oriental—Bringing its services accessible and closer to its members, the GSIS unveiled last Monday (November 28) at the provincial Capitol the latest and the revolutionary GSIS Wireless Automated Processing System (G-WAPS) that would make transactions with GSIS much more convenient through secured remote processing.
“This is the new generation of G-WAPS. It’s faster than the previous one and we hope to unveil more of this in the coming days in this area to serve our members,” said Mario J. Aguja, Trustee of the GSIS Board.
The innovative G-WAPS kiosks which is developed through world class technology enables members to check membership and loan accounts as well as process loan application without any documentary requirement. Pensioners on the other hand can renew their active status without the hassle of taking long distance trip to the GSIS office located in certain cities around the country.
Aguja said that when he first came in as one of the trustees, the G-WAPs were only about 200 in the entire country. “If this is our link to our members then we are not linking well with our members,” he said.
The bottomline of this endeavor said Aguja is to give excellent public service to GSIS members without the members going to their offices as much as possible. “Public service is you can do service to our members without them going to us,” he added.
“While in the past our employees have to travel to GSIS office in Tagum City just to be able to transact, now through the G-WAPS, GSIS is made accessible to the employees particularly the members of the GSIS,” said chief executive Governor Corazon Malanyaon.
To date said Aguja, the assets of the GSIS had earmarked 640 billion pesos. “As trustees, we are entrusted to manage your money to ensure that when you retire in government service you will be able to receive what is due to you and the fund will be able to continue to provide you pension up to your survivors after your demise in this world,” explained Aguja to the provincial employees.
“This is a tough task for the board of trustees. We assure you the money we have in GSIS is safe and sound. We are investing your money well,” he adds.
Coupled with the many programs that the trustees hope to reform like the survivorship program and abolishing the ARAS (Annual Renewal of Active Status), GSIS is pushing the regulation of placing G-WAPS in all provincial Capitol, city hall, and congressional districts. “With this, you don’t have to leave your offices to do transaction with GSIS hopefully for the first quarter next year.”
“We always put in our people that the purpose of the GSIS is to serve. The money used to operate the agency comes directly from the contribution of its members. And therefore it is upon us to provide better services for our members,” said Aguja.
Thus far, there are three designated G-WAPS kiosks for the province of Davao Oriental, one in the provincial Capitol, one for the city of Mati, and one in the DepEd division.
